Can you overtrain?

"Be careful not to overtrain"

This is something I heard a lot when I first started working out and when people talk to me about starting on their journey to lifting weights.

So, can you actually overtrain?

The short answer is yes, but it's nearly impossible.

For the average person you aren't working out near enough times nor are you working out hard enough to overtrain.

The body and moreso the mind will want to quit long before you get to any kind of point of working too hard.

Now I'm not saying that you can just go out there and hit the gym daily for long periods of time, but when you are working out it does take A LOT to really overtrain!!

Make sure to check with your doctor and start out slow when it comes to getting started.

At the end of the day overtraining is nearly impossible to say what is overtraining and what isn't, but for most people they will never get to that point.

Just be smart when you start! Slow and steady wins the race every time!! Start out with a manageable workout routine and build up from there!
